Random stuff

Kalamazoo-96

I frequently have these random thoughts that come to me that I want to share with you.  However, many of them are not long enough to make an entire blog post out of.  Here are some of the shorties.

A quote that has been ruling my mind this month:

“The dogs of doom stand at the doorway of destiny.”

{Kris Vallotin}

It never truly feels like Fall until I get a little bit of head cold and until I eat a Pumpkin Pie Cheesequake (yes, cheeseQUAKE) Blizzard from Dairy Queen.  If you’ve never had one, you need to stop whatever you’re doing, rush to the nearest DQ, and get yourself one.  You can thank me later.

Please allow yourself to be inspired for JUST a second.

Do any of you have good ideas for organizing crafts?  I feel that my home is being overtaken.

An alleged excerpt from a high school student’s worksheet on analogies and metaphors: “He spoke with the wisdom that can only come from experience, like a guy who went blind because he looked at a solar eclipse without one of those boxes with a pinhole in it and now goes around the country speaking at high schools about the dangers of looking at a solar eclipse without one of those boxes with a pinhole in it.”

I’ve been working on my first custom order for Consider Grace.  Did you know I make custom orders?  If you’ve got something you’d like, send me an email and let’s talk about it!

The above photo (and many of my blog photos) is the work of my talented buddy Brian Wolfe(y).  Even if you aren’t looking to hire a photographer, you should still check out his Flickr, Facebook, Insta, and blog.  Totally beautiful captures of real life.

    Organizing crafts is never easy … all those shapes and sizes make it very difficult. I usually just approach the task like I organize my books: color, category, height, or any other way to measure something. I love those plastic drawer organizers: they come in so many sizes! And any other containers that you find. The key is to label the drawers or containers, use colors to code stuff so it’s always easy to find. Start with the small stuff and work your way up! Good luck! (p.s. when we come to visit, if you still have stuff to organize, I would love to help!)

      Thanks for the ideas! I’ve got two dressers that I’m going to use to organize. And I’m actually in the process now of finishing up my big, bulky projects so I can “display” them in my home instead of needing to store them. For examples, I have a big shelf in my guest room closet solely occupied by glass vases, jars, and tin cans that need to be beautified. Once they are pretty, I can store them on top of the big bookshelf in my living room until they get sold instead of hidden away behind a door. A perk of being an artist = ever-changing home decor.
